What's All This Then

Why should I care what this guy has to say?

The correct answer is that you shouldn’t. We’re all entitled to our opinions. Develop your own. I try to be sane and rational, but that may change with the level of caffeine intake. I’m just telling my stories in the hopes they may amuse and/or inform others. And... I Confess... I'm showing off my bitchen collection a bit.

Tom Petty and Bob Dylan

R.I.P. Tom Petty.   I never was a fan, but I did respect him for a few reasons.

1.  He kept his band together with the same guys from before he was who he was.
2.  He stayed true to his roots and vision.
and
3.  He got near Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan toured with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.  They served as his backing band and did two small sets of their own during the show.  I saw two gigs from that tour.  The Petty portions served as convenient beer breaks.

Of all the touring they did together, the recorded output was scant.  There's one track on Dylan's Knocked Out Loaded LP and this little obscurity.

Bob Dylan with The Heartbreakers   - Band of the Hand

The title track to a movie that bombed.  I picked up the single when it came out.

Not a bad song by any means.  Sure seems odd to see Dylan on something other than Columbia (not counting the brief stint on Asylum for David Geffen's ego).
